I've been here several times now and can honestly say it's just a little piece of heaven in the Kent country side. The food is amazing and wonderful sized portions. My husband is a massive fan of the Bannoffee pie.
There is a lovely atmosphere in the pub no matter what time of day you visit. The bar staff are friendly and extremely helpful.

On a trip down from London I stumbled upon the red lion in what I consider to be the garden of England . It was early on a saturday evening and the pub was heaving with a great atmosphere both in and outside . The steak and kidney was superb with gravy to die for . My girlfriend had the jumbo beer battered cod which she said was amazing and cooked to perfection . Will definitely return this summer .

My ultimate frisbee team and I stopped here for our mid-tournament meal. It's a beautiful quiet area and the place looks gorgeous inside and out.
Despite us booking quite late for a large group, they found us a nice table upstairs at short notice.
The fireplace was warm, the beer excellent, and the menu had a great variety of delicious things.
Anywhere that will give me a whole camembert to dip toast and veg into is great with me!
As we were leaving we asked them to book us two taxis to take us home, but on hearing the prices they were asking for the Landlord/Lady offered to drive us back to our hotel themselves!
Incredible kindness and great service, combined with a lovely building, warm fire, food and drink.
What more could you ask for on a brisk autumn evening.

Always good. Have taken many visitors there and they like it too - one friend saying it's the best pub grub she'd ever had. They are happy to swap around sauces/cuts of meat etc to make your meal bespoke and always done in good spirit. Go there three or four times a year

A classic fourteenth century timber framed pub in a pretty village in the North Kent fruit belt-apples, pears , plums and cherries as far as the eye could see. Outside, some benches and a sun dial on the plasterwork-not sure if it works.
My visit was necessarily fleeting, but the ambience seemed good on a September Sunday lunchtime:people sitting out on the benches looking across the green to the ancient village church,or gathering round tables in the bar. Of the four beers available-Doom Bar, Old Speckled Hen, Master Brew and Old Dairy Blue Top-I enjoyed a decent pint of the latter.

Just got back from first night out under Ben's ownership. Very impressed, we had Spanish Chicken & scampi, both were excellent. The sauce on the chicken was so tasty & salad dressing was perfect. Will definitely be coming back & will spread the word. Many thanks to Ben & your staff, good luck in the future.

Top Steak night last night Ben - The Galic & Chilli Tiger prawns were excellent, and the Peper sauce on the steak was one of the best I have ever had (and I've had a few). Keep up the great work.

My friends and I attended the event on Saturday 21st May and afterwards we had lunch. Verdict: the food was delicious, the beer was excellent and the coffee we had later that afternoon was tasty. On the whole an experience we will talk about to others.

I frequent the red lion as it offers a comfortable relaxed atmosphere in a beautfiul village location. This is complimented with excellent food and a good range of beers. This is one of the true british pubs still in existence.

Had a fabulous meal on mothering Sunday with my grandmother & mother. The food was fantastic, particularly the sesame battered chicken & the strawberry jam bread & butter pud! So glad the sun has finally come out so that I can spend more time in the beautiful pub garden, such a sun trap!
